Other versions we find: a bird nest or dryer sheet residue in the exterior vent hood, a flap that no longer opens, a run that's far too long with too many elbows, or a duct that dumps into a crawlspace instead of outdoors. Symptom checklist: no strong air puff at the outside hood while it's running, lint around the door seal, and drying that got gradually worse instead of failing overnight.
Cause family two: lint trap and blower issues
Fabric softener sheets leave an invisible film on the lint screen. Air can't pass, even though the screen looks clean. Run water on it. If the water pools instead of falling through, that film is your restriction. Below the screen is the housing. Lint falls in there too, and it packs around the blower wheel. A blower wheel that's clogged, cracked, or loose on its shaft moves less air. Some dryers make a low rumble or a rattling flutter when that happens. This area sits behind panels, so we handle it. A quick test you can do: run a timed dry cycle instead of auto. If timed dry works better, suspect the sensors.

Overloading by itself can double dry time. Confirm the room isn't sealed tight, because dryers need makeup air. Skip anything involving screws, wiring, or gas connections.
